• If you are a member of The Atlantic Club or know someone who is, check out the Belmar Chase training session tonight at 6:30pm at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan. Don't worry, by 6:30pm the temperature looks to drop to a cool 91F. We'll bring the ice and the water.
• Local community leaders in the 2013 Barnabas Health Celebrity Chase better be ready to roll on August 10th. The Belmar Chase is proud to announce the addition of two London Olympic athletes with strong ties to New Jersey. Clinton-native and former Rutgers track star, Julie Culley competed in last year's London Games at 5,000m so she knows this distance well. Julie will be joined in the Chase by 2012 Olympic Steeplechaser Donn Cabral, who was also an NCAA Champion while at Princeton. Donn and Julie will "chase" previously announced Belmar Mayor Doherty and Lake Como's Councilman Brian Wilton as well as defending Champion Adam Schneider, Mayor of Long Branch. There have been random sightings of mayors around the state stepping up their training with hopes of getting an invite to the Chase.
• The Kids Chase on Friday, August 9th will once again be held on the beach and offers races for kids from under 4 through 14. All participants receive medals and some tasty treats including pizza from Belmar's own BellaTara's Pizza. Don't forget, boys and girls in the 9 & 10 year old age group can run in a special race which will crown the Fastest Boy and Fastest Girl in Belmar.
